Presentation
The course is designed to enhance your skills and achieve excellence in the diagnosis and management of fetal central nervous system (CNS) anomalies.
The postgraduate course offers a comprehensive approach ranging from anatomy and pathophysiology to detailed imaging. Knowledge acquisition is achieved through intensive exposure to a large number of real cases representing all possible conditions and situations encountered in a fetal neurosonography unit.
The program offers the opportunity to learn from experts how to best perform advanced fetal neurosonography, while progressively increasing your understanding of all relevant CNS malformations. You will also become familiar with the different options for fetal therapy in some of the most common malformations and acquire full advanced training in the comprehensive evaluation of fetal CNS anatomy by using different imaging techniques, mainly ultrasound and MRI.
With a strong focus on clinical decision making, master classes and a face-to-face period in Barcelona are designed to complement specific skills in the performance of advanced neurosonography and prognostic assessment, as well as the acquisition of transversal skills such as mutidisciplinary interaction and patient counseling.
The interactive program provides ample opportunities to participate in open discussions through a forum, share your own cases with experts in the field and attend virtual master classes. Two face-to-face weeks in Barcelona will allow for close interaction with experts and practical sessions.
This unique academic program addresses the growing demand for subspecialists with in-depth knowledge in Fetal Neurology.
Who is the target audience?
The course offers advanced training in fetal neurology for fetal medicine specialists and obstetric ultrasound professionals with experience in fetal neurosonography who wish to improve their understanding and clinical skills in fetal neurology.
Overall objective
To enable participants to perform detailed diagnosis and prenatal counseling of fetal CNS anomalies through a thorough understanding of the anatomy and pathophysiology of the fetal CNS.
Specific objectives
- To achieve the acquisition technique as well as the anatomical knowledge for an advanced evaluation of fetal CNS anatomy by advanced neurosonography.
- Efficiently incorporate other imaging techniques such as 3D ultrasound and magnetic resonance imaging into the performance of advanced neurosonography.
- To provide the necessary tools for the diagnosis, management and counseling of fetal CNS anomalies.
- Incorporate multidisciplinary management in the routine clinical management of fetal CNS anomalies.
- Recognize the indications, limitations and benefits of intrauterine therapy in a specific clinical context.
- Empathetically address the emotional needs of parents facing a diagnosis of a fetal CNS anomaly during pregnancy.
