Information
- General information
Up to 4-5% of pregnancies present some type of fetal anomaly, most of them in pregnant women at low risk of fetal malformations. Many are structural malformations that are detectable by prenatal ultrasound, and therefore imply a great responsibility on the professionals who perform the screening morphological ultrasound ('20-week ultrasound'). It is recognized that following standardized protocols simplifies the technique and significantly increases detection capacity. The progress in the knowledge of the natural history of the different congenital malformations and the continuous technological advances make necessary a continuous updating by the specialists who perform the screening morphological ultrasound in order to optimize the detection capacity and to refer the pathology cases to the Fetal Medicine centers of reference. The content of the course is focused on the presentation of the exploratory systematics highlighting the most relevant specific aspects of its practical utility. The course is conceived as an exhaustive review of normality and its deviations: what should we always see, what is normal and what should we pay attention to?
