Information
- General information Fetal cardiology is a defined subspecialty within fetal medicine. It requires a high degree of knowledge of fetal cardiac anatomy and circulation and a mastery of techniques for the visualization of cardiac structure and functionalism throughout the three trimesters of gestation. It is also necessary a deep knowledge of the possible intrauterine evolution, of the associated pathologies and of course of the prognosis of the different cardiac malformations. Fetal cardiology defines a new field of knowledge clearly supradisciplinary in which it is necessary to combine original knowledge of fetal medicine and pediatric cardiology. Although it is essential for an advanced unit to have both types of specialists, it is essential that all members have detailed knowledge of aspects of the other specialty in order to offer the patient the best medicine available.Start and duration
